Learn More About Our Approach

I have always been impressed with the quality education [my children] have received. They are challenged daily to reach their full potential. The teachers and staff treat all children as individuals…

A. Yahn-Black, mother of 6th and 7th grade students

A.C.E.

At Kestrel Heights, we emphasize the growth of the entire student, focusing on ACADEMICS, COMMUNITY, and ENRICHMENT (A.C.E.).

STRONG
ACADEMICS

When our students take end-of-grade tests, they consistently perform better than their peers in Durham County and across the state. We are proud of our exceptional test scores and believe this demonstrates the successful efforts of our students and faculty.

Kestrel Heights incorporates the Paideia philosophy of teaching, an approach that facilitates the development of strong communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

A WELCOMING COMMUNITY

Kestrel Heights is a diverse community of talented students. We welcome students who have attended public or private school or have been homeschooled. The friendly and accepting nature of our students and faculty allows students to feel comfortable regardless of their background or learning style.

Our high teacher-to-student ratio enables Kestrel Heights to provide your children with personal attention and individualized instruction to help them succeed.

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

There’s more to a good education than reading, writing, and arithmetic. Kestrel Heights offers a wide range of electives and extracurricular activities, including robust arts and sports offerings.

All students in elementary school receive special instruction each week in art, music, dance, PE, and Spanish. Sixth-grade students will receive the same opportunities, while seventh- and eighth-grade students will have the option of focusing on one enrichment activity for the entire year. In addition, eighth-grade students will have the opportunity to take classes for high school credit.
