Student Life
LIFE AT KESTREL
IS ABOUT ACADEMICS, GROWTH, AND FUN
Kestrel Heights offers a wide range of electives and extracurricular activities, including robust arts and sports offerings. All students in elementary school receive special instruction each week in art, music, dance, and PE. Sixth-grade students will receive the same opportunities, while seventh- and eighth-grade students will have the option of focusing on one enrichment activity for the entire year. In addition, eighth-grade students will have the opportunity to take classes for high school credit.
Clubs & Programs
Students are strongly encouraged to start clubs focused on their passions and new clubs are regularly added throughout the year. All clubs have a faculty sponsor and meet regularly. Current middle school programs include:
- Model United Nations
- Battle of the Books
- Sewing Club
- Anime Club
- National Honor Society
- Student Government
Athletics
Kestrel Heights School takes pride in offering athletic opportunities that are both competitive and developmental for students in grades 6-8. Interscholastic athletics are historically a significant part of successful educational programs. Athletics offer an opportunity for students to be a part of a team, to compete, to serve their school, to enjoy fellowship, and to develop intellectually, physically, and emotionally.
After-School Programs
Kestrel Heights students can participate in after-school programs provided by the YMCA of the Triangle. Register online or visit a local YMCA to sign up your child. Financial assistance is available.
