Dear Parents:
This is a special time of the year. With Spring Break now in the rearview mirror, we are closing in on the end of school year and the graduation of our senior class. It will be our last senior class to graduate from Kestrel Heights and that is bittersweet. I am so proud of those students and everything they have accomplished, but I will miss the energy, enthusiasm and spirit they bring to campus every day.
At the same time, I’m tremendously excited about what the future has in store for us. Our leadership team has been busy planning for the upcoming school year and I want to share our plans with you. Through the remainder of the school year, I’ll be writing you each week to share with you details about ACE: our plan to strengthen our Academics, Culture and Enrichment programs.
Let me talk a moment about culture. At Kestrel Heights, we strive to create a culture that is built on a foundation of academic rigor, personal responsibility and strong relationships. We treat each other with respect and we always tell the truth, even when it’s hard.
In the wake of the announcement that our high school charter would not be renewed, I told my colleagues, “They can take away our high school, but they can’t take away our integrity.” Despite the adversity we faced, I know we made the right decision to self-report our discoveries and it will make us a better school going forward. I look forward to sharing that journey with you and your children as we take full advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead.
One more note: I would like for these emails to provide an opportunity to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have. I know we have faced our fair share of uncertainty this year and I’m sure many of you have questions. Please share those questions with me so we can address them for our entire KHS community.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mark Tracy
