Dear Parents:

I hope you and your families had a nice Mother’s Day weekend! We certainly enjoy the opportunity to teach your children and appreciate the trust you place in our team at Kestrel Heights.

ACE: A Focus on Enrichment:

I’ve shared with you details about ACE – our plan to strengthen our Academics, Culture and Enrichment programs. Today, let me tell you about our enrichment plans for the 2017-2018 school year.

We are excited to tell you that our K-6 students will participate in five enrichment courses each week: art, music, dance, PE, and Spanish. Our 7th and 8th grade students will choose to focus on one enrichment class throughout the year. Our 8th grade students will have chance to take classes that allow them to earn high school credit.

In addition, we will continue to offer students a wide range of extracurricular activities, including after-school arts and sports activities for our middle school students.

New School Time for 2017-18:

One important change for next year: Our elementary and middle schools will begin at 8:00 am and end at 3:00 pm. This change in our class time will allow us to better use our staff. In addition, we hope it will be easier for our families to have one consistent schedule.

Update on Marketing Efforts:

As I mentioned last week, we are launching a campaign to help promote Kestrel Heights School. This will include a new logo and website. Attached is a preview of a direct mail piece that will mailed to Durham families to help us fill the few remaining spots we have available for next year’s class.

If you know anyone who would be a good fit for Kestrel Heights, please encourage them to contact Suzanne Vargas at vargas@kestrelheights.org.

Answering Your Questions:

A reminder that I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about our school or our plans for next year. Please let me know if you have a specific issue you would like me to address in this space.

Sincerely,
Dr. Mark Tracy
