Dear Parents:

I hope your week is going well. It was a big weekend here for our high school students who attended their prom. Now, we are now busy preparing our students for the end of grade exams that will begin next week.

We are also continuing to focus on our plans for next year. We are ramping up our recruitment efforts to fill the remaining spots available for the upcoming school year. We’ve recently started running some Facebook ads that promote our continued commitment to offer students a diverse and welcoming community, strong academics, and exceptional enrichment opportunities.

I encourage you to visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/KestrelHeightsSchool/ and give it a like or share it with your friends. We’ll use the site to regularly share school news and highlights.

We are also in the process of redesigning our website.

Start Times / YMCA Care Available:

As I mentioned last week, our elementary and middle schools will both start at 8:00 am and end at 3:00 pm next year. I have heard from some parents regarding the shift in drop-off times from 7:15am to 7:30am, and I’m excited to let you know that the YMCA has agreed to offer before-school care that allows for early drop-offs starting at 7:00 am.

During this time, students will play structured games, participate in arts and crafts, and have a morning assembly to get their school day started off.

After-school care is also available and will be offered onsite. You can register for before-school and/or after-school care next year online or at any of the local YMCA branches.

Answering Your Questions:

Lastly, I wanted to take a moment to answer a few questions I’ve recently heard. Some of you have asked about the status of our middle school sports programs. We will continue to offer a full selection of sports programs for boys and girls. Next year Coach Hess, our elementary physical education teacher, will serve as our Athletic Director. He is working with Coach Wright and others to prepare for next year. Coach Hess will share his vision for the Athletic Department in the near future.

I’ve also been asked about the status of our library. To start we are happy to announce that Ms. Herbert will be returning next year and we will continue to have books for our upper elementary and middle school students. We have budgeted significant funds to start an early elementary circulation plus we will be seeking matching funds from grants as well as conducting local fundraising efforts. Our media specialist will also be working with students via classroom lessons and open library.

Please continue to send me your questions. Thanks for your continued support of KHS. Have a great night!

Sincerely,
Dr. Mark Tracy
